Android Notifications
The Android companion shows notification-worthy session events in the app’s notification inbox. This includes sessions that need an answer, such as a question, permission request, or plan approval, as well as other events the companion receives from the Mac.
The notification inbox
Section titled “The notification inbox”Open the notification bell in vord to review the events delivered by the paired Mac. Tap an entry to return to the related session when the app has a live connection. Inbox entries can show Important or Urgent for deliberate notify_user messages, with attachment chips for files saved with that entry.
The inbox is useful when several Macs are paired: check the host attached to the entry before answering, then open the session on that Mac. The Android companion keeps hosts separate rather than combining similarly named sessions.
When the app is open
Section titled “When the app is open”When the Android app is open and connected, notification events can arrive through the live paired connection and appear in the app. The same connection also delivers the session state, cards, chat messages, and other updates described in Controlling Sessions from Android.
When the app is closed
Section titled “When the app is closed”Offline Android notifications — alerts delivered while the app is closed — require the Firebase Cloud Messaging integration. That server-side integration is still outstanding. The Android companion therefore does not yet promise reliable push alerts while it is closed.
If you need to know whether a session is waiting, open the app and check the inbox after reconnecting. Do not treat the absence of a closed-app notification as proof that no session needs attention.
Notification permissions
Section titled “Notification permissions”Android may ask for notification permission in a system dialog. Allow it if you want the app to display notifications when its Android notification path is available. This permission does not replace the pending Firebase integration for closed-app delivery.
